This is the part two post for your ultimate guide to social media managers.  There are many options out there but we landed on a compare and contrast on twelve options based on features, pricing, and a lesser criterion of popularity in the niches of freelancing, entrepreneurship, blogging, and small businesses. 

Each of those niches need different features from their social media managers.  CoSchedule offers much more than social media management, but we are simply focusing on social media management for the purpose of this two-part guide.

AgoraPulse

AgoraPulse advertises as a "simple and affordable social media" manager with features that remind us of Hootsuite: like content and sweepstakes campaigns, analytics, competitor analysis, audience targeting.  They offer free tools like a Facebook barometer, Twitter analytics, and a timeline content.  Paid packages include social inboxes, monitoring, scheduling, and team members but the packages start at $49 per month if billed monthly for only up to five social profiles.  Skill Space feels there are more affordable options with similar features.

Everypost

We are really impressed by Everypost.  They are working on some great features and already have a pretty great platform as it is, including offering a free plan.  Workflow optimization as well as social media management comes in their affordable packages.

SmarterQueue

SmarterQueue is a powerhouse for social media management that includes many advanced features popular within the niches, including advanced scheduling, content recycling, and analytics.  It does all of this at a cheaper price point than Edgar.

  • You can add a Facebook profile, page and/or group to manage. For LinkedIn, you can add a profile and/or a company.  For Twitter and Instagram it's just profiles, however it's just Instagram reminders like most of the competitors at this time.  Pinterest and Google+ are coming soon.
  • Easy to use
  • Well-developed website application
  • Smart user-interface
  • Calendar view
  • Evergreen content recycling plus advanced scheduling features
  • Plans are very affordable including the Solo plan at less than $15/month, the Business plan at less than $30/month, and the Corporate plan at less than $60/month.  This is all early bird pricing as SmarterQueue is still in beta.

Cons

  • SmarterQueue is the only manager to have a poor smartphone app. We aren't sure at this time if they are planning on further developing it, however right now it's only function is to send scheduled Instagram content reminders. 

Skill Space uses SmarterQueue as our social media manager when not live-posting.

SocialPilot

SocialPilot was actually a last minute addition to this guide as it didn't come across in our initial research from the niches.  However, we have been converted as SocialPilot believers and here is why: it is a very affordable all-in-one social manager with a lot of advanced features.  Like only a few others, SocialPilot would be good for freelancers and VAs who need to be able to manage client accounts.  In addition, it still retains most sought-after features.

  • Easy to use, interactive dashboard

Pros

  • Dashboard layout includes posting history and daily usage chart
  • Affordable pricing, including the basic plan that is $4.99/month billed monthly that includes 10 connected profiles and up to 250 posts in the queue
  • Custom Facebook branding in higher tiers
  • The most expensive tier is $14.99/month billed monthly and includes 20 team members
  • Content curation
  • Smartphone app

Cons

  • Evergreen content recycling is actually not automatically done, but there is a manual hack where SocialPilot allows you to "Reshare" posts.

SproutSocial

SproutSocial is a dynamic all-in-one social media platform that allows for team member collaboration, advanced scheduling, a smart inbox, and more.  However the price point is $59 per user per month for up to five social channels/profiles.  We simply feel like there are more affordable alternatives available (especially since SproutSocial doesn't currently support Instagram or Pinterest), therefore are not going into in-depth detail here.

Sprout Social

  • All-in-one social inbox
  • Monitor profiles, keywords, and locations
  • Publishing, scheduling, and drafting
  • Social media content calendar
  • Network, profile, and post-level reports

  • Includes up to five profiles/accounts

Tailwind

Tailwind is actually only for Pinterest, but we've included it because so many others don't support the network right now.  BoardBooster is another popular option for Pinterest only.  Both Tailwind and BoardBooster have free trials that are not time-limited: it is measured for your first 100 scheduled Pins.

The advantage of having a dedicated Pinterest platform is because Pinterest functions different than other social media networks: it is a search engine.  Having a platform that has unique analytics, content curation, metrics, etc for Pinterest is advantageous.
